Well, I got a couple messages asking questions about the book. First, I'm not exactly sure of the release date yet. As I said before, I will send the manuscript to the illustrator some time next week, or the week after. Typically, it takes my illustrator about a week to a week and a half to get me rough drawings for my approval. Once I approve them, or get minor changes made to them, she starts on the finished product. This usually takes another week to two weeks. This book requires several more illustrations than my previous books, so I would expect the process to take slightly longer. Then, it usually takes me a couple days to get the illustrations put into the manuscript so that they will appear proper in the finished product. If everything goes well, I would like to think I will publish before Halloween. The next question concerned my illustrator. I found her because some of my friends recommended different sites to me, where you can purchase various services. As I went through them, I eventually made it to Fiverr.com. I spotted a couple examples of Ms. Mills drawings and felt immediately that her style would work perfectly with my books. I sent her a message, and a partnership was born. While I am extremely happy with her work for me, there are many talented people on the site and I highly recommend it if you are looking to get into the book writing business. There are lots of other people on there besides artists, as well. If you need help designing a website, you can go there. If you want help with marketing, Fiverr can help. Please check them out if you ever need any service that can be provided over the internet. 8-30-19
I sent off a notification to my illustrator, Jasmine Mills, today. I try to do that when I am about a week or two from employing her. I like to know if she is going to be too busy. I suppose it is always possible she just won't be interested in the subject of the book. She has come through with flying colors every time, so far. She has not responded yet, but this is the spot where I feel like we are about a month to a month and a half from publishing. Thank you everybody for following along. You have all been so awesome for Izayah and I. I am thinking about having a special promotion for this book. More details to follow. 8-27-19
Izayah and I are moving closer to publishing the next nursery rhyme. We will send it to the illustrator in the next week or two. It is titled, "The Little Lost Fish" and is a tale about a playful little fish, named Sheila Canth, who gets lost while playing hide and seek with her friends. Will she ever be found? We hope you'll join us as we search the ocean, far and wide, to try to reunite her with her family and friends. Below is a sneak peak of a random page, complete with my own illustration. Now you can see why I hire a professional illustrator. lol. |
